  • Guide and support  RFC’s volunteers in the execution of their designated duties, including recruitment, training, and regular check-ins

SOMEONE WHO CAN

  • Manage and maintain RFC’s website content, ensuring that pages are up-to-date, visually appealing, and accessible to a broad audience with working links
  • Collaborate with RFC staff to identify ways to increase user engagement and drive the organization’s mission
  • Convert materials into web-ready  assets like articles, blogs, images, and the like
  • Understand WordPress and its various features, and know how to conduct basic troubleshooting to maintain site functionality
  • Support website conversions to ensure compliance with web standards and accessibility guidelines
  • Work well collaboratively or independently, especially in an often asynchronous remote environment

Overview:
RFC is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting working families in the screen industry. We believe that every family deserves access to affordable and high-quality child care, and that by doing so, we can help promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the entertainment industry. Our commitment to anti-oppressive, anti-racist activity means that we strive to create a more equitable and sustainable future for all working families, particularly those from marginalized communities. 

As an extern with RFC, you will work closely with our team to support our mission and gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector, while contributing to our goal of fostering more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable environments in which diverse workers can thrive.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on best practices in nonprofit sustainability and the future of work
  • Support the development and implementation of sustainability plans for RFC programs
  • Assist with outreach and engagement efforts to promote RFC’s mission and programs
  • Collaborate with staff members to develop and implement action research projects to improve program outcomes
  • Complete a strategic analysis and case study projecting a course of action the nonprofit can take to ensure sustainability and longevity.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and other organizational events.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a graduate program in Nonprofit Sustainability, The Future of Work, or Action Research Methods
  • Passionate about supporting working families in the screen industry and advancing DEI goals
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment

Duration:
This externship will be for a period of 3-6 months, depending on the needs of the organization, the availability of the extern, and the school’s term structure (semester, trimester, quarters, etc.).

Compensation:
This is an unpaid externship. However, RFC will work with the extern to receive academic credit or other forms of compensation as appropriate.

Location:
This is a fully remote externship, and the extern will be expected to work independently and communicate regularly with RFC staff members via email, video conferencing, and other remote communication tools.
